Cheesecake and clifftop walks at Christmas

Winter walks in wool jodie goes jetsettingApologies for the delayed festive-time blog post!

Over Christmas we indulged in chocolate, mulled wine, and cheesecake. We decorated trees with tinsel and bought stunning [discounted] Christmas flowers for the flat too.

Festive food
I was in charge of creating the Christmas cheesecake – chocolate Baileys cheesecake, that is. I was asked to do so by my other half’s family. Initially, I was a bit nervous by this request as this was my chance to impress them! But, apart from a based as hard as concrete, it was well-received. Thank Christ.

I can’t find a photo of the cheesecake I made – perhaps it was simply a great success and eaten too quickly, but here is me smashing the biscuits for the base:

We had a Christmas walk that ended in Wimborne where we got hot chocolates. Some of us went for the ‘Bad Santa Hot Chocolate’, which was spiked with Baileys. *Heavenly*

My other-half, Reece, made some scrumptious flapjack. (I was upset by how good it was because I wanted to keep the title of ‘best baker’ that I had unofficially earned from creating my Baileys cheesecake.)

Festive strolls
Sadly, I don’t think we’ve seen the sun or felt warmth on our skin since the the seven-day heatwave of June 2017. Nevertheless, this hasn’t deterred us. We have wrapped up and soldiered on despite frost-bitten, wind-stung skin.We have been on a lot of walks over winter, all across Dorset .

We’ve tackled Studland, where unfortunately this warning sign was too late. ?

We went across the cliffs of the Jurassic Coast…

Then we picked a more windier day to tackle the steeper cliffs not long after… These images don’t come close to expressing how strong the hurricane winds were.

But we did stay home quite often, and went for local walks. Such as around Lulworth castle.

At home, we enjoyed beautiful sunsets and crispy mornings.

But as with all beautiful winters, comes the flu! And this New Year was no exception. Thankfully my man took very good care of me! Such a gem. ?

Overall, 2017 has been a successful year of exploration, which has carried through into the New Year. I look forward to more pub lunches and Sunday strolls with THE FAM… In our brand new Volvo… ?
